Kanye’s New Music Video: You’re bound 2 Hate it or Love it
Kanye West released the music video to his recent single ‘Bound 2’ earlier this week, which was not greeted with the best response. It heavily features his new fiancee – naked, with things get very steamy on a motorbike. So what we want to know is, what was Kim K thinking? And what would her ‘momager’ Kris say about it?!
For those of you who haven’t yet seen the video, it starts with mountains and horses with heaven-like scenery, before Kanye enters on a motorbike with fast paced editing. Then Kim randomly keeps popping up, looking gorgeous as ever. Next thing we know she’s naked and riding on the bike with him! It’s very suggestive, and brings us back memories of Kim’s infamous sex tape featuring Ray J, something we very much thought she wanted us all to forget about…

Kim Kardashian, who gave birth to baby North just 5 months ago, couldn’t be looking better! She just can’t stop showing off her post pregnancy body, so no wonder she wanted to show it off even more when she looks this good. On Keeping up with Kardashians, after giving birth, she said she was considering doing a Playboy magazine cover again. This was to show all the haters how amazing she looks after the amount of slating she had during pregnancy. Maybe this video is for the same reason.
Kanye has been apparently working hard for months to ‘re-brand’ Kim away from the Kardashian image. After disagreements with mum and manager Kris Jenner over the direction she wanted to develop her career, Kanye got a lot of blame. Kris apparently said he was trying to take control. Maybe for once Kim was just making the decisions she wanted to. So did she choose to portray herself like this in the video? You can at least see how in love they look, it shows the public to stop speculating on the state of their engagement.
The public’s opinions to the new video have been mixed. On Twitter, some say that Kanye’s just symbolising the lyrics to the song by showing the journey of falling in love, others are more critical saying it’s a low budget video, looks unprofessional and is embarrassing. People question why the video was taken in the direction.
It’s not a shocking thing for Yeezy, we know he likes talking about his sex life in his music, and showing off his woman. What is shocking is that he publicly gets so angry about any media trying to interfere with his private life, when he’d put a scenario so personal and intimate as simulating sex, in a video which would be seen by millions. Perhaps he doesn’t mind when the power is in his hands…
It was rumoured that Mr. West had been a heavy influence on Kim’s changing fashion. Her style has been rated better in recent months by those in high fashion and she was given the opportunity to work with Karl Lagerfeld. This resulted in her being on the cover for an issue of CR Fashion Book. These images were very different for Kim’s usual pristine look, but she was starting to get accepted by the fashion industry’s main contenders. Bound 2 may change this.
I can’t help but feel this sexualised video is quite degrading for her and isn’t going to do her any favours in the fashion world where she’d re-created herself. Even more so, why would Kanye want this for his future wife? We know you’re a lucky man, but keep it classy Kim – you are a new mumma after all!
